It's a Motif sticky notes program for IRIX and Linux that looks nice. If anyone has the file or a close alternative please let me know. 

It appears to have been made by the user jimmer. I can't find the file anywhere but I found it referenced on the archive here:

Unfortunately no. But I have found a tardist of the Jimmer's Notes-1.0 on my HDD. They are here. It seems that the tardist icludes also the source code.

I may have the tardist and what have you lying about someplace. Maybe not. I seem to remember that I included the code in the tardists - like Jirka said. I also seem remember there were some minor 'fit and finish' bugs left.

I'd have a look at it myself, but I don't have access to an IRIX box anymore. So I can't really be of much help.

In my opinion there's nothing unfortunate about requiring ViewKit, definitely not on an IRIX box

And there's always ViewKlass... I'll see if I can coax my sources to build with that on something non-IRIX. Me goes off to setup Xorg/Motif/ViewKlass in a virtualbox.

My experience of ViewKlass has been, mixed at best. It doesn't seem to work properly and won't build on BSD out of the box.

I just was slightly lamenting that I can't use it right now due to not having an SGI physically in my possession (I have a huge collection, but all in a place I can't go right now)

Hey, if you're up to porting I'm making an open source Motif desktop for Linux and BSD. There's a thread up in the "Other Unix" section about it. A sticky note program is going to be a core feature but the one I have already is very basic - just a resizable text box widget with copy/paste.

If you need an IRIX environment for testing you can emulate an Indy with 6.5.22 in MAME. It's very slow (20% of a 100MHz R4000) but it works. Here's a guide

what version of IRIX are y'all running this on? I have 6.5.22, and when I run notes it creates a ~/.notes dir, but nothing else happens (I installed the 1.0 tardist, r12k o2)
