Updated benchmark data for various SGIs...
Today on my site I updated the Movie Data Conversion and Lynx Compilation test results for most configurations of IRIS Indigo, Indy, Indigo2, O2 and Octane systems, so that they now all where possible use the same disk model, OS version and compiler version (older systems with 6.5.22, newer systems with 6.5.30). The results are now much more directly comparable. I'll deal with the remaining systems later (Fuel, Tezro, Onyx, Origin, Onyx2, etc.) as and when I have the time and can gain access to the right parts to replace the old data. The page formating is all new aswell. See:

http://www.sgidepot.co.uk/perfcomp.html

and follow the links shown at the top-left. These particular tests are of course all integer based tasks.

Hope this helps! Smile

That's great! Thanks much!

I see that you updated the "What's new" page, too.

I am no longer posting from the moose, SGI O2 with R10k/250, 1GB RAM,  IRIX 6.5.27, unfortunately.

Most welcome! And yes indeed I have a horrendous amount to do on the site, but it's going to take a long while.

Hmm, not that I'd get to it anytime soon but would you be opposed to me wikifying stuff like this here?

I'm the system admin of this site. Private security technician, licensed locksmith, hack of a c developer and vintage computer enthusiast.

https://codeberg.org/SolusRaion -- Code repos I control

Technical problems should be sent my way.

Hi Ian,

I have just received a Fuel (or Fool as known by others) and run the c-ray benchmark on it...

Results are not good :-( relative to my other SGI boxes but I find it has nice snappy UI performance, likely a result of faster disk sub-systems as you point out on your SGI Depot Fuel page.

Your many postings are very helpful to us SGI'ers , thanks for keeping this information available.
If you are looking for result to add to benchmarks my results are in this spreadsheet file.

EDIT #1: July 24 - Updated with Mac Pro 2019 28 Core and others

Cheers from Oz,

John

jwhat, my you have been busy! Biggrin  Your Fuel/600 result looks exactly as it should be though. Alas it's unlikely I'll have the time to add new entries to my page for a while.

Raion, I'd rather people just link to my site for the performance data, that way updates and error corrections are down to me.

Ian.

I don't know as so far I've never tried to compile the code under 5.3. Try it and see I guess. Smile

Remember you can run 6.2 on Crimson, though I don't think I've ever used 6.2 for C-ray either.
