I think I could do next one like this but in Blender which is the tools I used a lot evening in late 90's
I tried to follow the tutorial but encountered a problem with mental ray renderer. the thing is that when I select MR all I can see is a black screen. The Softimage renderer works fine though. Any ideas how to fix this? Any help is much appreciated. TIA

Glad you like the video. It still gets hits. I think 2022 will see me resuming my Irix 3d tutorials series finally.

Sounds like your Mental Ray renderer isn't licensed properly. Not sure how to resolve it though.

that is also my suspicion. I tried to see how possibly I could fix this but I have no idea.

instead... could you tell me if there are any big differences between SI versions? I use 4.0 but maybe 3.8 and 3.9 is enough. I could remove 4.0 and go with previous version?
