Does anyone have a burnable image of Solaris 2.3 edition II I could get? It's for my Voyager.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think the Solaris 2.3 8/94 image on archive.org should work.  The original Solaris 2.3 release was 11/93 if I'm not mistaken.  The Voyager came out after that but before 8/94 from what I've read.  So I'd expect that CD to work.

Thanks! I've read that it has to be edition II, but I will give it a try.

I suspect it's just a difference in naming conventions.  I've never seen "Edition II" on any Solaris CDs.  They're usually labelled "a.b m/y" where a.b is the version number (e.g., 2.3) and m/y is the month and year of that specific release.  There were typically several dated updates over the life span of a single a.b version number.  (I want to say every six months or so, but I can't confirm that at the moment.)  So 8/94 would be the second or even third edition of Solaris 2.3.

That Edition II thing was special for Solaris 2.3. It's a hardware support release. Early Solaris releases were a nightmare of patches and updates. I think Edition II first supported the SS5 and 20. They never used that "Edition" label for a later release, but just went with the date, just as jpstewart said.

In any way, Solaris 2.3 is only for the brave and strong. Solaris 2.4 with all patches and stuff applied makes for a more useful system and it will run Sun Workshop 3.0, which is nice.

for 2.4, make sure you install the latest patch cluster and also patch 101925-02.
