O2 mainboard - symptoms of imminent death?
The RevD mainboard I've been using with my 250mhz R10k is acting up, it's never really worked with a true ps/2 mouse plugged in and will only work with a MS intellimouse connected via a usb->ps/2 dongle. This week my mouse pretty much refused to work on occasion and movement is horribly jerky.

In addition, when I powered it up to compile some vfo files on Thursday, the machines complained about being unable to acquire a network address, this after working fine the day before, same network etc. Irix cannot see the network interface but the IDE tests pass fine.

The whole machine just feels flaky and it's honestly the first issue I've had with an O2.

My R5k board with the RM5200 works just fine!

Try measuring the 5V and 12V on the floppy disk power connector and see if that checks out. Odds are that the Power Supply is acting up.

What you could do is to replace the Dallas chip on the motherboard. It's relatively cheap and i got lucky in stabilizing an O2 that way. It is just a pain to get to it and replace it.

Oh, and i assume you cleaned contacts and reseated everything...

Contacts look very good on the m/board, very little wear and no corrosion what-so-ever. 12.28V & 5.10V constant on the CD drive molex. Last thing to check would be the Dallas.

The same PSU works fine with the RM 5200 setup with 2x scsi drives.
