HELP - Sun Voyager internal scsi connector?
I'm trying to figure out what kind of drive I need for my Sun Voyager, or if I need some kind of adapter as well? The manual seems to offer instructions that are totally different than what I'm seeing here. Click the link for more...thanks!

RE: HELP - Sun Voyager internal scsi connector?
AFAIK, it's 50-pin SCSI but on a 2-1/2" drive instead of the more common 3-1/2" form factor.  (A few models of laptop also used that SCSI form factor.)  The connector used a 2.0mm pin spacing instead of the usual 2.54mm (i.e., 1/10") spacing.

If it helps, the Sun Field Engineer's Handbook says Toshiba MK2326FB (340MB) and MK2328FB (810MB) were the supported models.

There's also an adapter available on ebay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/270840619638 if you can't find 2.5" SCSI drives.

RE: HELP - Sun Voyager internal scsi connector?
Awesome, thanks.
When I look up those drives though, I see that they naturally have male pins on them, the same as the port inside the computer, so that isn't going to work.

This is the crux of the problem really, is that the port inside the computer is not female like most ports would be, but male with pins, making drive insertion rather tricky.

Something like a cabled 2.5" 50pin FML to 2.5" 50pin FML would be ideal, which is what it seems to show on the picture from the manual I included in my original post link. Maybe that was supposed to come with the Voyager but is missing in mine? If that's the case, I hopefully would just need that Sun part number (and someplace that carries it).

EDIT: something like this maybe? But I can't tell if it's 2.5" 50pin or 3.5" 50pin

Ah, yes, there is such a cable:  530-2062, 87mm long listed in the Field Engineer's Handbook (item #19).

It says 2.54mm pitch, so that's the 3.5" standard.  Look for 2.0mm pitch.

Thanks again, you've been a great help!
I don't think my chances are very good on the Sun part though, so if anyone has a spare, please let me know.

EDIT: I think I got lucky on eBay, does this look like the right one? I think it is...

It's 2.0mm pitch, so I think so too.

It's a lot longer than the Sun original:  30cm (i.e., 300mm) vs. 87mm for the Sun cable.  It might be a tight squeeze to get that much cable in there.  Only way to find out is to try, I guess.
