So on my Octane, after it's been up for a few days I've started getting a crapton of these:

NOTICE: Recoverable memory ECC Error at 0x1a3810b58 (DIMM S8, CB3), Bad data: 0x8957cb415ab27666

The error address and bad data address are all different and there are a ton of them at the same time.

What's really ANNOYING is that it says "Recoverable" but it's not, the machine locks up hard and the only way to recover it is to power cycle.

Sigh, time to buy new Octane memory...

You should try to clean the contact edge of the DIMM modules with some pure alcohol first and swap something else in socket S8 (furthest from the CPU) to see if the error follows the DIMM or stays with the socket.

I've seen some '1467' mainboards which worked just fine except they had issues with the memory bank furthest away from the CPU. Could be a signal integrity issue.

Ha ha, pure alcohol, you mean ethanol? Here in the United States that's sold as the brand-name Everclear, it used to be illegal in the state I live in but it's not anymore. So I guess I'm off to the liquor store to pick up a jug...

Here in the US as normal citizens we can buy 90 percent isopropyl over the counter, at work I have access to a whole bunch of stuff that ordinarily is hard to buy, at least legally, stuff that's been banned for years from commercial use due to their supposed effects on greenhouse gasses, but, since we're a department of defense contractor, we get a pass. As I've mentioned many times before, my place of employ is considered among the top 10 most dangerously polluted industrial sites in America. But I don't drink the water and I don't breathe the air!
