External CD-ROM drive issue

External CD-ROM drive issue
Drive was working fine this morning, now it doesn’t stay closed.  If I insert a disk or envelope try to close the rom door without a disk installed it shuts, then opens up.  The door will not stay closed.  Is there a simple fix or is the drive pooched?

Could be the same problem as what seems to happen to the O2 CD-ROM: https://wiki.irixnet.org/o2#hardware_problems
