Getting things out of SI and into Renderman
Hey y'all

I finally got my hands on Renderman, but I'm curious how you get things out of Softimage and into Renderman. It's Renderman 11 with the artist tools. Is there an exporter available I'm missing?

RE: Getting things out of SI and into Renderman
Renderman was primarily made for running from inside Maya as far as prepackaged setups go.

Animal Logic did create a custom series of plugins called Softman which exported scenes from SI to Rman which they sold for a little while from their website.

I had always wanted to try this suite but never did.

Strangely there is still a ghost website that was archived of this old website. I wonder if Animal Logic has this software archived somewhere?

On the RMAN note tho...

R.A.T. which is Renderman Artist Tools should be able to run from Maya though. I have yet to get this to run but last time I attempted it I was far less experienced with Irix and SGI. After getting Houdini to run I think I could figure it out now. I used Renderman for Maya quite a but actually on windows but have yet to run this old RAt plugins on SGI. I will try to get it running soon..ish...

That would be a good next Maya vid. Getting Rman to run and a tut on using Rman vs Mental Ray or Maya renderer.

RE: Getting things out of SI and into Renderman
There is a tool called liquidmaya on sourceforge i was trying to compile once in 2015 or so, but no success.

Similar to Animal Logic Mayaman (i would really love to get for my O2..)

The problem was i did not have developer packages of that maya installation (M3dView.h from /devkit).

Maybe i'll give it a try this year again... some rainy day.

Another interesting tool was Mai-Tai from the RenderDotC suite..

SiTex Air has an exporter called Air-Stream but the available version ist too new for us to work and only win/linux libraries

Anyone already found aqsis for irix (aqsis-0.7.2_irix-6.x_mips3.tar.gz)?

Pixie was on nekochan available once..
