Hopefully both RMs can be salvaged.

That bus is something proprietary and not VME, but cleaning and reseating may fix your problem and that's all that counts Smile

RE: SGI Onyx2 startup?
So further testing confirmed that both RMs work in Slot 1.

This gives me three possible ideas:

1. The slot is dirty. I have already tried cleaning the contacts as best I can and cannot see any dirt or grime
2. Some config or firmware issue is preventing the second slot from initializing properly
3. There's a hardware issue with the frontplane.

I'll try cleaning it more. Any advice on that guys?

Okay, so I figured it out

I used a piece of dampened paper with ethyl alcohol to get the dust and dirt out of each connector.

And then you gotta do what I call the VME dance. You basically wiggle the board in inch by inch, with half-turns of the screws. It's not fun.

One last question. How to get the ARCS console displaying not in 1024x768? No variables in ENV for it.
