Replacing the cells in laptop batteries.

Replacing the cells in laptop batteries.
I've bought a lot of third party batteries for ThinkPads specifically that have been pure garbage. The new OEM batteries, even for 10+ year old machines are expensive, ranging from $50 to $150. I've thought about trying to replace the cells myself. I don't really have much to lose with batteries that are already dead.

Some interesting info:

Has anyone here ever done this?
