Sun Workshop for Solaris 2.4

RE: Sun Workshop for Solaris 2.4
Sorry to necrorasie this thread, but I'm looking for Workshop 3 or 4. Which ever is the latest with the pascal stuff in it. Pascal was my first "real" language and I thought it might be fun to code pascal on my IPX Biggrin

I've tried the ones from archive.org, but my gut says those are for x86 because the installer complains it can't find any products.

If anyone has media for SPARC, that would be fantastic!

Thanks!

@preator. Which ones you tried from archive.org? I assume your intend was for Solaris 2.x!?

Two findings on archive.org:
* https://archive.org/details/sunworkshopf...546810revb
* https://archive.org/details/SunWorkshopVol5No1

...each containing cluster product Sun Professional Pascal 5.0, which should to be compiler version 4.2 in the end (pkginfo)

The non-expiring demo licenses, containing INCREMENT lines for Pascal compiler 4.2, ...

You found one for x86? Oha!?

RE: Sun Workshop for Solaris 2.4
So I have found my pascal bliss. FreePascal has binaries for Solaris/SPARC that works on my IPX. There are all kinds of units available. I'm currently writing a gopher client in Pascal and will start a custom server on the IPX. It's all pretty slick. FreePascal is way nice.

One can get in on the fun at : https://www.freepascal.org/download.html

Awesome. If I had known free Pascal was on the menu I would have suggested that in the first place.

RE: Sun Workshop for Solaris 2.4
Sorry to necro-raise this thread, but I'm trying to install Sun Workshop for 2.x (whatever version that is), and when I run the installer, it says "no installable software on this media". I'm trying to install it off my Linux (Ubuntu) NFS server. I've ripped open the script, I've moved the installer. I don't know how to get this to work. I really want the Pascal compiler. HALP!

Sorry for not noticing this until just now, I assume you're trying to install the version that's available for download from the Internet archive:

https://archive.org/details/SunWorkshopVol5No1

If so, I can only assume that downloadable file is somehow corrupted. Sad, Sun Workshop used to be a free download from their website. I have not tried it myself but this could do the trick:

https://sourceforge.net/projects/freepas...ris/3.2.2/

RE: Sun Workshop for Solaris 2.4
I actually have some physical copies of this version of Sun Workshop now. Praetor, if you still need this I can upload an ISO somewhere for you. I believe I have a valid license for it as well.

btw still looking for media and documentation:
* 704-4269-10 Solaris 2.4 Software Developers Kit (SDK) x86 8/94
* 704-????-10 Solaris 2.4 Driver Developers Kit (DDK) - any release date
* any other SPARC- and ProWorks/ProCompiler media - documentation

Cheers, escimo

So these are fully working versions, or the DEMO restricts their functionality in any way?
