Indigo IMPACT Power Supply failure modes?

Indigo IMPACT Power Supply failure modes?
I'm also about to acquire an Indigo 2 MAX IMPACT system. (I should have it in my possession in the next two weeks or so.)

There seems to be allot of talk of failures of IMPACT power supplies at the moment. My question is: what components are failing and how easily can these units be fixed? (Are the semiconductors failing or caps or both?)

Thanks jan-jaap! Smile

Luckily it doesn't actually look to be that complicated (mostly through-hole components), if you compare it to the Cherokee power supply form an Octane for instance.

It might actually be possible to just replace all of the major components as well as tantalum caps on the board.

If one of the transformers goes, however, that might be a slightly bigger problem to solve! (However, transformers are usually pretty robust devices.)

If you can find an old-school radio/stereo repair shop, they can maybe help you out. Has to be a shop that fixes older vintage equipment, not a brand-name service depot. I had two Indigo2 PSUs fixed by a guy who runs a shop that was luckily just around the corner from where I lived. He was in his 70's and from Eastern Europe, and had a huge inventory of NOS, vintage and esoteric parts. Had them back in a week good as new and at a reasonable price.
