Display Layout on IRIX (Octane V12 DCD)
Does anyone have any idea how to change the display layout in IRIX?
I've finally found a KVM setup that works nicely on my desk. Since this has been an SGI pain point for literally forever (and I know someone will ask), I'm using an IOGEAR GCS1644 with a Blackbox USB to PS/2 emulator / converter for the Octane. There's no keyboard/display/mouse weirdness at all. Just works.
The one snag is that my monitors are now in a stacked instead of a traditional side-by-side configuration. Does anyone how to rearrange the monitor layout in IRIX so that my mouse moves to the next screen in the correct direction? To add to the fun, it's possible I may be putting my dual V12 with dual DCD setup in this box at some point so this might get more complicated soon. :-)
Thanks!

RE: Display Layout on IRIX (Octane V12 DCD)
I looked into trying to set up a DCD in a vertical arrangement and never found a solution. The is or was a topic on nekochan where one of the graphics savvy posters said the horizontal placement was hard coded into the DCD circuitry.
If you do run both V12 DCD heads together I seem to recall that SGI's Open GL Multi Pipe software is the way to go. Xinerama could also work, but you could only display OpenGL visuals on the primary graphics head, so any 3D graphics programs wouldn't be visible on either of the monitors attached to the DCD on the secondary V12. There was a pretty in-depth post on nekochan that described the set up process, hopefully it still exists somewhere.

RE: Display Layout on IRIX (Octane V12 DCD)
Yeah, i was afraid of that...I do wonder if this is something that could be achieved in vfc....however that's a pretty deep dark hole.
I have definitely setup OpenGL Multipipe in the past...though it's been quite a long time now. That may well be the answer (at least with dual V12s) as I remember it being significantly more flexible. Unfortunately to put my dual V12 setup back in, I'd have to remove my DM2 and put it in one of my other boxes. This is one of those moments I regret parting with my Onyx2 Rack. :-(
Either way, thanks for the reply. If I do happen to figure this out, I'll post a follow-up.
