New O2 user
Hello guys,

So I am currently deployed to Afghanistan, so I don't have access to the O2 system I just bought off Ebay. I wanted to ask a couple questions and introduce myself to the board since I'm new here! So my first question is, does anyone have a scanned copy of the O2 User Guide? Looked everywhere for one... Also, any recommendations on what documentation I should start on to start learning IRIX? Lastly, so on the O2 system, the keyboard and mouse is just standard PS/2 right? SGI KB and Mice are toooo expensive! Sorry, one more question... Can anyone tell me a good cheap LCD monitor that will work with this system?

As far as my introduction, as I said, I'm currently on deployment in Afghanistan, but should be heading home back to the states in November. I'm a gunsmith and woodworker. I've always been in love with SGI systems since the mid-90's but could never afford one until I found this O2 on ebay the other day and snagged it for what I think was a decent price... It's an early O2 with an R10k 250mhz, 192megs of RAM, and a 9gb HDD. I've bought a replacement cd bezel as it was missing and bought a 36gb HDD with IRIX 6.5.23 pre-installed. Hoping this makes a decent system just to mess around with, learn on, and maybe even do a little 3D graphics on (I have a Dell Precision that's pretty decked out for my actual 3D work). I've been looking around the sight and seems like a really good community here, so I hope I learn a lot from y'all and become a contributing member of the site!

Hi, and welcome.

Here's a site where you can download the O2+ manual: https://www.manualslib.com/download/8857...2Plus.html

The contents of this manual should be applicable to the standard O2 as well.

I will check to see if I can't find a place where you can download the standard O2 manual as well

This page on Ian mapleson's website is also a great source of info: http://www.sgidepot.co.uk/sgi.html#APPS

Welcome to the Silicon Graphics/Irix net community.

Lots of archival knowledge of our Irix based machines floating around here.

That O2 spec is pretty good.

I made some Retro Tutorials for some of the 3D apps in Irix. They are hiding in the 3D rendering section. Actually finished a new one last night and am uploading it today.
