Dallas chip in a PC
I figured I would go ahead and install windows 95 on a pentium 1 machine i got not too long ago. Upon power on, I was greeted with a cmos error, battery dead message. I got a cr2032 ready, and opened up the case. There is a friggin dallas chip in there. So much for a quick project

Does the machine's CMOS interface work. (Confirm the CMOS info isn't stored on the Dallas chip, and that it's only used for its real time clock function?)

It's not hard to mod the Dallas chip: http://www.mcamafia.de/mcapage0/dsrework.htm - did it once, works well.
