New Domain Name, New Era

RE: New Domain Name, New Era
I don't have to justify what I do and do not prefer. if you don't agree, that's the end of it. irix.cc is going to be redirected, and eventually repurposed for something else once the SEO keeps up and I get referenced links updated for it.

Irix.cc was unique and easy.

I like anything that avoids conventional dot com anyways.

But, if you are getting hounded for Irix.cc or just don't like it... then as you have... change it.

Ultimately, I remember ridiculous website addresses back in the beginning. I bookmark and click it. So it doesn't matter if it is Geocities.Irix.Net. Wink

I'll be here. Waiting for time for my next tangential Irix Software vid.

Well now I'm genuinely curious if I'm the only person here who types in URLs manually and/or relies on Firefox's type-ahead history recall...

I always appreciate other perspectives on the situation, I just got a little exasperated trying to explain my preferences on domain names is a lot like trying to explain to somebody what it's like to go shooting at a range or going skydiving for the first time. anything that I say is only going to be a rough approximation of how it feels to me and me alone.

One of the biggest issues outside of my personal preference is that lesser-used top-level domains do not get preferential seo treatment which I alluded to briefly. We are already in a situation where I have to compete with a crazy nichiren Buddhist cult whenever somebody searches SGI. The other one was is that this is an organization. I originally used .pw and .cc for pricing reasons, as those changes were made well before nekochan's demise.

Now with it well and truly gone, I thought it was imperative to give us a more legitimate name.

Add me to the "me too" club. I find it much quicker and easier to start typing the URL of sites I visit regularly than trying to find the right bookmark to click on.

It strikes me that the people who are grousing about the fairly insignificant URL change are the ones who are genuinely suffering from OCD... Tongue

Project: Temporarily lost at sea
Plan: World domination! Or something...
