RE: Help for a new SGI owner
So I got some bad news I tried to use the CD drive but I heard a loud snap and I opened it up and one of the eject component broke the thing that looks like a Hook I don’t know what to do now this particular machine didn’t go through good shipping it got kind of beat up

Here’s an update I did talk to the people I got the unit from which they have a surplus of these computers and parts for them And I was able to weld they’re looking for a replacement drive for me but I do want to know if there’s a way through the forms that I could net install In house so would I go about doing that

Seeing that you've already cut a set of disks, I would suggest waiting until you get your new drive and carrying out a disk install as it will be a good learning experience.

As far as the ejector system of an O2's CD-ROM goes, I am a ware of a gear that strips from its shaft as usually being the cause of the problem.

Well I looked at their inventory list and it doesn’t look like they have a drive and I don’t know where else I could get a drive relatively cheap I dropped $150 on this last replacement drive so I might have to do network install I know they host the networking staff files here but I have no clue on how to do it being new to sgi hardware
