Just one question: do you have shapes stretched?
I mean: if you create a sphere does it looks like a sphere or like an egg sleeping? :-)

Here we go:

Wonderful ! I'll try to make it work on my 1600SW, I'm tired of watching half screen SI|3d...

It will be interesting to see the results.

Hopefully you get it up and running at the correct resolution!

Well Irinikus, in my SI|3D 3.9.2 it worked more than fine! Biggrin

....now, please, tell me how to do a screengrab in IRIX....(absolute newbie)

I have been able to carry out a screen grab with "mediarecorder" however there may be a problem if you aren't running a dual display setup, as in order to do the screen grab, the mediarecorder window has to be open, meaning that it will be open in the screen, that you're trying to capture.

I resolved this problem by running dual displays @ 1920x1080 and moving the mediarecorder window to the secondary display, as I captured the primary display.

I was able to capture this image in this way:

You can also use mediarecorder to capture video footage as well, but I haven't been able to accomplish this for the full screen though, but if you choose the window option it does work.

I agree with you that SI won't work with all resolutions you throw at it - so far I think the only confirmed working resolutions are
SI_1600x1024
SI_1920x1080
SI_1920x1200

note you have to make sure your res is currently set to that via xsetmon or whatever, and you might have to restart the xserver (logout/login) if those specific resolutions aren't working.

honestly xv has a great screen grab feature with a timer you can set that can give you as much time as you need to get what you want to capture setup (you can raise and lower windows with ALT+F3 and ALT+F1, or just minimize a window with ALT+F9), so its probably the best to use for this purpose - but it just happens to not work correctly with softimage.

I'm taking a look at it to see if there is some sort of fix for it, I'll let y'all know - other wise the next best one is scrsave and snapshot, but they are less ideal
