Video  How can i record the screen in IRIX?
Hi, I wanted to ask:

how can I record the screen in IRIX?

Because I've seen some video on YouTube and Vimeo that shows IRIX screens recorded and I would like to know what is the process of recording the screens, I do not know if you have to use a program on IRIX or you have to access remotely from windows and record with the Camtasia program for example, if anyone knows you can tell me please.

You can actually use the MediaRecord tool found on Find->MediaTools in the Toolchest. Works quite nice for 2D stuff on my Octane, I have no idea how it performs with 3D.

Octane2 Dual 400 MHz R12k - 2 GB RAM - Dual 73 GB HDD - vPro v12 - IRIX 6.5.30
O2 400 MHz R12k - 512 MB RAM - 73 GB HDD - Video-In - Flatpanelcard+1600SW - IRIX 6.5.30
O2 180 MHz R5k - 128 MB RAM - 18 GB HDD - IRIX 6.5.30

RE: How can i record the screen in IRIX?
option 1 - use mediarecorder/dmrecord. This is not gonna be what your looking for - it's limited, failure-prone and it won't record fullscreen (please prove me wrong someone)
option 2 - use a camera on tripod. This can work very well, but quality won't be better than option 3
option 3 - use a capture card on a PC (such as https://www.startech.com/AV/Converters/V...~PEXHDCAP2 or maybe this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07FK4RYZW/ for example). This is the way to go and what is being used. With a DVI connector (Octane/Tezro/Fuel) it's trivial to split the video signal and record it on the PC as your actually using the workstation. You can also get converters from VGA/13W3 to DVI/HDMI

edit: the real question is how did Dodiod setup that remote IRIX desktop? hehe.
