I've finally received my (second) Indigo2 PSU back after sending it off to be re-capped. Although I can use a soldering iron, I simply didn't trust my soldering or electronic skills enough to attack my increasingly flaky PSU. So I found a company in the UK that specialises in PSU repair and overhaul, got an acceptable quote fromn them and posted it off.
And the re-capped PSU.... works! Downsides are of course that the work wasn't that cheap (it ended up costing me £130 in total), but the firm claimed to fully test the PSU before sending it back and it does have a 1-year warranty on their work. I had a look inside and can see several caps rated for 105C, so hopefully they've used decent replacement caps and this work has bought me another good handful of years of use out of it.
Given the age of the PSUs in these and the fact that I've got two flaky ones now, I'm just glad to be back with a (hopefully) reliable Indigo2 again!
