Back in 2005 the company I worked at was getting rid of lots of old SGI machines that we were using in the late 90s and very early 2000's for 3D graphics development. I got ahold of one of the O2's. I wasn't sure what I would ever do with it but I thought it was cool. I wrapped it in saran wrap to keep the dust (mostly) away and set it in a closet. There it sat for 18 years until a couple months ago when I was cleaning out stuff and decided to try to get rid of it. I'm a computer guy but I don't know much about SGIs except what basic research I've done. We used them back in ~2000 but not a bunch.

First of all, it appears to boot up fine. However I don't have a Green on Sync VGA monitor (I don't really know what that means exactly). So I can't see what is on the screen. When I turn it on, the light momentarily is red then changes quickly to orange. About 30 seconds later the light turns green and it makes the "IRIX boot up jingle" (or whatever its called). So I assume that means successful bootup. Does that sound right?

I have some PS/2 to USB connectors I was trying to use with a USB keyboard and mouse but obviously I can't tell if it's working without being able to see anything.

But obviously I can't tell what version of IRIX they are running without access to a monitor that works for it. Last time we used them at that company was probably mid-late 2000. And as far as I know that was the last time it was used. Maybe that can help gauge the IRIX version?

Anyways, it's an R10000 250 MHz. It has 256 MB ram. I think the HDD is 4GB. The CD-ROM opens and closes just fine.

When I pulled it out of the closet I was disappointed to see some damage had happened to it somehow over the years, even though it had not been moved. There is a crack on the top of the case that you can see in the pictures. The lower rear part of the case cracked and broke off. When I removed the fan shroud the tab for it broke as well. The plastic pieces on these things sure seem to be brittle! :-(

Otherwise, the thing appears to be in good clean condition and appears to be functioning perfectly. I'm honestly very new to this IRIX/SGI collector scene. I don't know exactly what something like this is worth. Some research through this forum indicates maybe $350-ish. But I'm open to negotiation. I would like it to go to someone who will appreciate the history of SGI.

The thing is obviously very heavy but we can figure out some sort of shipping option. I live in Northern Colorado and would be open to it being picked up in person if that helps.
