Where do the exec bin pres files go? Pp01 installer failed.

There is actually a better solution, which I kinda forgot how because this was twenty years ago but can't be that hard if I managed ... the situation is, at one point Adobe pulled all the Display Postscript licenses from everyone.  Not just SGI; Sun, HP and IBM too. I do not know if they were just being assholes or if there was something in Display Postscript that was licensed from someone else, which got pulled on them. No one ever tells the truth about these matters.

The dpsnx file was a workaround so that programs such as Framemaker that depended on Display Postscript could still work. But a better solution is to go back a little farther and re-install Display Postscript from an earlier Irix. Then all your dps programs will work, not just one or two. There were several, and some were useful.

DPS is in the earlier Irixes and works fine with dot-thirty. It's installable all by itself. Plus you can thumb your nose at Adobe a little :-)

While you're in there, you can get rid of a bunch of shit that had to be done for this same reason - the stupid truetype fonts and so on. Type 1 fonts are actually better, much. That whole super-system where they buried the good stuff under a bunch of crap is worth the effort to remove. One of my goals when younger was to create a dot-thirty overlay that was just the fixes, not the steps backwards. That wouldn't be that hard, and more useful than some of the things people do with Irix, sigh.

p.s. It might have had something to do with Apple or perhaps NeXT. They were involved with creating Display Postscript and were in big trouble at that time, they could have sold it to someone who thought they'd make big money extorting companies or something, don't know. Motif was sort of like that. Bankers suck. But it sounds plausible so let's go with that :-)
