However if I enter my uhci controller device id and vendor id into the uhci.c I still get kernel panics Ill have to do some more diagnosis to figure out why but it seems to be due to the hcd driver for some reason at least for now because without the uhci controller the hcd driver appears to function normally.  
Yes it will be a lot of work but how awesome would it be to have usb on a computer from 1997. That's news article worthy.

Does the Firewire/USB card actually have a UHCI controller? My experience is that they used OHCI controllers.

Great catch robes!! So after getting my brain out of cold storage, I looked again and it is an ohci controller (dont do things late at night) and no uhci controller. Luckily on ebay rn VT6212L if you search for 5 Port USB 2.0 High-Speed 480Mbps USB2 you can get them for 4-5 bucks. So mines on the way. I've got the openbsd source now so ill be working on trying to implement some of that. Maybe get ohci too?
