The VBOB software comes with a whole suite of diagnostic programs, have you tried running those? It's been a while so I'm not sure if those install by default or if they're options that you have to select yourself. Also, you'll probably want to flash to the latest-and-greatest version of the VBOB firmware if you haven't done that already:
