Nixdoc is gone

Nixdoc is gone
For those not familiar, Nixdoc was an online manpage system for IRIX and others. It went offline at some point in the last 2-3 weeks.

This was a convenient service for many. I'm thinking of trying to recreate it for IRIX but I have to research a bit. OpenBSD uses man.cgi, a cgi script to publish it but I'd like to replicate the UI and capabilities of Nixdoc a bit more.

I'm not going to run this from an IRIX machine. Just not a good idea. So I'll need to take one of our servers and put a copy of IRIX's manpages. Doable, but I would like to know if there was a PHP or other script that could handle this that is flexible enough. If someone wanted to write something I would consider it as long as it wasn't in Python. I'm a little too busy with everything else right now to dedicate enough time to make something quality myself but feel free to throw suggestions.

It's frustrating, but yeah a backup doesn't do much good. search was fucked, for one thing, and I can't bring that back.

RE: Nixdoc is gone
I hate asking for cash for things like this, but if anyone wishes to see such a replacement/sees value in a valid, up to date set of manpages for the various versions of IRIX, we could use a little extra to make this happen faster. The expense of a photo gallery, bounties, and now an online manpage system has me a /bit/ stretched at the moment.

To advise what any donations would be towards:

The online manpage is being developed by solidcore, who like most of us in the Western world just had Christmas come through. He's helped with a number of things here.

Anything left over after paying him would go towards the photo gallery fund.

Don't worry about me. I have my bills paid up and the servers are fine. I know the FTP is down... I have the server that's gonna go in a DC finally almost ready, just need to find a rail kit for it. Everything else is swell. I just know how much I can spend in a month and that the result is longer to wait on things than I like.

At the moment, the only way to donate is through Patreon and that is a monthly payment?

Well, I have Liberapay set up but haven't ever used it for transactions. Paypal is a no-go because I won't give them KYC, same with Venmo. CashApp works, but it's US/Canada only. Did you have a suggested alternative?

Patreon is easy to cancel, fwiw. You get charged IIRC on the 1st of the month

I've had a paypal verified (KYC) account since forever, and it's always worked great. Is there something missing about why we shouldn't use paypal? Yes I'm sure paypal is evil but they can't possibly be as evil as amazon or microsoft...
