Indigo2 power button question
I'm currently working on cleaning up an Indigo2 I picked up late last year. It passes all of it's diagnostics with no trouble, though the Dallas timekeeper is most definitely now dead and will need to be fixed.
The issue I'm running into is with the power button not functioning how I would expect it to. I wanted to poll the group, as it were, to see if I'm mistaken about how the power button should operate. I'm unable to shutdown the machine when it is sitting in the maintenance menu. A single button press is acting like the reset button, restarting the machine. Holding the power button does nothing but delay the restart. A double press also does not change the behavior.
My concern is that this is either a) an issue with the power supply itself or b) an issue with the NVRAM since the Dallas chip is dead.
Does anyone have any experience with an issue like this? I saw a few threads with wonky Indigo2 PSU behavior (powering on as soon as plugged in) but nothing so far about the switch not shutting the computer down while idle in the maintenance menu.

RE: Indigo2 power button question
That's exactly how my otherwise perfectly working I2 R10k Impact performs. I also thought it was odd, but have nothing to compare it to.

RE: Indigo2 power button question
Alright. I'm glad it seems to be normal then.
The user manual indicates that you should be able to shut down the machine by pressing it twice, but that may only be the case if it's already past the PROM and loaded in IRIX.
Thanks for chiming in!

RE: Indigo2 power button question
Sorry to revive an old thread, but this is now happening on my newly acquired I2 R10000 Solid IMPACT system and it is supremely annoying. I ended up turning the machine off by basically pulling the power cord. The machine seems stable otherwise, no other issues with it so far.
Were you able to resolve it somehow or anybody else has ideas?
Thanks.

RE: Indigo2 power button question
All my Indigo 2 Impacts behave exactly this way. Dallas IC's battery is ok in all systems. I think this is absolutely normal what You experience with power button.
