Sun Fire X4600 M2 now up and running with Solaris 11.4
I now have Solaris 11.4 up and running on my newly acquired Sun Fire X4600 M2:

The DVD-ROM in the unit doesn't appear to be working properly, so I couldn't use a DVD ISO to carry out the install! (I'll have to source another drive some time.)

I therefore had to create a bootable USB Solaris 11 text install. (all of the information required to accomplish this can be found in the link below)

I then upgraded the text install with a GUI, by following the steps shown in this video:

I'm wondering if I shouldn't try to fit this:

into this: (It was logged into this thread at the time of me taking this photo!)

The BIOS does allow for add-on graphics!!!!!

I have found a Solaris driver which supports this card!

I just don't want to mess Solaris up, as it was a real process to get Solaris with a GUI onto this machine in the first place!!!!

Jeez, this thing gets bloody HOT!!!! (And it's also the loudest machine I own by a long shot!!!)
