your beloved SGI's place in your living space -

let's see where you found a good spot for your SGI/SGIs
do you keep them in the cold (garage) or are they part of your daily life?
this could be interesting
btw... it's not always as tidy as on the photo shown

I had for a long time my machines in a garage anyway covered and safe.
I've decided recently to bring them in my "red machine room" again and I'm recovering one by one.
All capacitors survived but I have to change a lot of batteries or nvram.
Future changes, new desks to support again 3 CRT GDM SUN 21'' Flat and 1 SGI 21''. The glass desk can support only an iMac 27

I need to be ready coming a new baby in my house, a NeXT.

My main room is my office, or "man cave" as the wife calls it. Indigo2 sits to the right of my desk with my amplifier and turntable on top of it. Under the desk I have my main PC at one side and my Fuel at the other. The desk has a triple-monitor setup - I usually only use the main screen when I'm using my PC, with one of the other monitors used for the SGI machines. When I'm working from home however (which is 95% of the time), I can switch all three screens to the dock my work's laptop is connected through. There are two KVMs under the desk that handle the switching.
The O2 is in a cupboard in the corner of the room. Hence, no machines in garages or anything else, and two on constant display.

Two O2s, and one Octane setup and running. Though my o2s share one 1600sw for now. Just swapping the cable.
Octane runs on an old LG monitor that works. All three are in my main living room area at the moment. The Origin 200 is in a rack in the back not doing anything right now. I think I will finally have time to set it up properly this year though. I'll take new pics since my old pics were lost at Nekochan.

In our first house, I had the attic as my 'man cave'. Then we moved to our current house where the attic was smaller, we had kids, and I got some more big iron. The result: systems in a bedroom, systems in the attic and some of the large systems in the garage. So in 2012 I had an annex constructed which is my 'new' man cave.
These are older photos: I'm currently busy putting more wiring in and sorting out various parts so this is not the moment to take pictures

My "Nerd Cave" is my side of the garage. When my kids were little I framed my side and hung plastic sheeting for a O scale model train setup. Kids today don't have the interest in model trains like when I was a kids, none of my 3 boys were very interested. In 2014 a Neko member was looking for a home for his Onyx2 so I took down the plastic and drywalled the room, ran 2-240V lines and set it up as it is now... my beloved Nerd Cave. I'm doing some construction upgrades in this room right now so pardon the mess and wires.
