Onyx2 - Suddenly no Login Screen - gandtimo - 02-07-2019

Hi,
I've got a strange problem with my Onyx2: The machine boots without any errors in the console, but after starting all daemons and mounting the filesystems: it stuck, no login screen.
I can't figure out, where the problem is. As mentioned: no errors in the console, irsaudit passes all tests.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Timo

If you ran irsaudit, you switched off the graphics. Did you switch them back on (/usr/gfx/startgfx)?

If you have console access, can you check if X is running?

Check also:
- /var/adm/SYSLOG for any messages concerning graphic pipes
- monitor is hooked up and functioning
- init runlevel is high enough for graphic system, usually 3 (not sure how one checks this in IRIX but try entering 'init 3')

Hi,
thanks for your answers. I just found the error: the windowsystem daemon was set to off. Don't know why. As soon as I reactivated it, everything worked fine.

Greetings
Timo
