Not my first computer by a long shot, but I spent many years with a ValuePoint from IBM. Very similar in design etc, and if I recall correctly it had an IBM BlueLightning DX 66.. and I ran OS/2 Warp on it. My wife bought me Warp when it was released as a christmas present, but it was so early, that we made a compromise and I was allowed to read the manuals.. what a tease.. mind you that time seemed like minutes compared to getting the CD Drive working and the numerous config changes and reboots. Ah the good old days.

The day we got that machine was one of the best days of my life! The first game that I played on it was Shadowcaster. I remember having to edit the config.sys and autoexec.bat files, just to free up enough conventional memory to allow me to play games in DOS! Those were really good times!

Pretty good machines actually, I recall finishing Doom and ROTT (although I cheated on ROTT it was much more fun) and then the great graphics from Aladdin, did they have an S3 Savage or something similar? Brilliant machines, I took mine apart so many times and I think it may have also been the first one I used for dial up internet as opposed to BBS.

The first PC in our family was a Viglen 386 DX33. Originally, no sound card, 4MB of RAM and an 85MB hard drive. I remember my dad upgraded it after a short while to double the RAM, install a 387 math co-processor, add a 440MB hard drive (which was huge back then), plus a sound card and single speed CD drive.

For my own personal first computer, it was a 286 12MHz system my dad salvaged from work, which was promptly upgraded to a 386 20MHz board/CPU (taken from another old work PC), and then upgraded a year later after I saved money and bought an AMD 5x86 133 bundle for it (finally it could run Windows 95!)

Still, messing around with DOS and Windows 3.1, creating boot floppies to free up sufficient conventional RAM to run Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, Dune 2 and The Settlers - those were the days!
