Octane power on music? - Infiltratr - 10-13-2018

Are octanes meant to play power on music?  All of mine seem fine in Irix, playing sound and everything through the monitors' speakers but I have never heard any power on music?

They don't.

The O2 and the Indigo2 Impact were the last two SGI machines to start up with music.

Shame really, it was one of those little touches I always appreciated.

The Octanes indeed have a boot tune, just plug in speakers and be amazed Smile.

The Octanes don't have an internal speaker, hence the reason you won't hear anything under normal circumstances.

It’s rather nice, sounds like a guitar string Arpeggio. But you will need speakers or headphones.

I personally like the Indy and Octanes best. See what you all think.
Listen on any system with sound. Biggrin

Couldn't attach the .aiff files, so I just zipped all of them. Njoy

Awesome.. thanks for sharing

And my family calls me a hoarder. Pfft! Whatever. Biggrin

I had to sacrifice one each of those machines to harvest intact, working boot and shutdown chimes, because obviously, a typical non-working salvage machine can't perform it's boot chime. R.I.P.  >>where is the laughing my ass off smiley?<<

Attachments system is broken in the current release of MyBB, until I get this figured out I recommend using a file host like pomf.cat instead.

It did OK with a zip file, and I just zipped up the whole folder, so everyone can compare boot chimes of several workstations.
