Optimized SGIDoom? - Anonymoose - 07-02-2025

Recently I’ve been watching the progress of FastDoom, a project to optimize Doom on DOS for slower machines. Naturally, my thought was if (and when) someone was going to attempt it for IRIX.

On that thought, what about Duke Nukem 3D? Does an IRIX port exist? That would be cool…

sgidoom was shit. We have much better doom ports. Chocolate Doom and prboomplus in nekoware new. I'm just not quite finished with release testing but you can check contrib.irixnet.org/raion if curious

Awesome! I should’ve done some research before posting, whoops. Where can I find Chocolate Doom?

RE: Optimized SGIDoom? - Raion - 07-03-2025

Chocolate Doom is part of nekoware 2025, but that is currently experimental. You may find the nekoware 2025 "beta" on http://contrib.irixnet.org/raion

It's not ready for prime time. I haven't had time to finish release testing, and I am wanting to be confident that it can exist independently before I am willing to stand behind the HaveBlue demonstration distribution.
