Nekoware 2025 Update: Code Slushed - Raion - 03-14-2025

I've completed the basics of Nekoware 2025. 79 packages. I know that's not a lot, but it was a HELL of a lot of work for me.

Others may add packages, but my work is mostly done. I'm gonna start regression testing and hacking on packages and documentation to get that into shape.

The completely untested apps:

neko_xnp2 - PC-98 Emulator
neko_snes9x - SNES Emulator
neko_prboomplus - Doom Source Port
neko_vba - Visual Boy Advance, GBA Emulator

The codename for this release:

HaveBlue

RE: Nekoware 2025 Update: Code Slushed - Raion - 05-15-2025

We've passed Stage 1: All Dependencies are included properly and checked as to my best testing.

HaveBlue has a total of five relevant stages for release testing:

Stage 1: Check package installation

Stage 2: Check Relnotes and Patches

Ensure relnotes and patches all match basic formatting and that patches produce usable code.

Stage 3: Check distfiles.

Make sure all files are being included upon a build. This is more of a concern for the bigger stuff, not libs and such.

Stage 4: Check GTK stuff

Stage 5: Reconcile all problems, rebuild the base packages, release to public.

The reasons it's taking longer than expected are:

1. I'm working two jobs and I'm quite exhausted when I return home.

2. I had a few small tragedies. A parakeet I loved passed away, so I was not in a good emotional state for a bit.

3. I have been trying to fix my car projects.

Keep in mind even with all this testing, HaveBlue is, like its namesake, a technology demonstrator/start of a base system.

I had users ask why stuff like nano or GCC or whatever isn't included. The simple fact is, if I get all the easy packages done right off the bat, it's gonna discourage contribution.

Nekoware has potential, even potential beyond IRIX applications. I'm beginning the process of making reusable tools and workflows too.

Documentation is also a huge part of this. Each package will have detailed release notes and information relevant to its usage and preparation. That's all a quality level beyond what the community has seen in a while.

RE: Nekoware 2025 Update: Code Slushed - Raion - 07-21-2025

Let's talk about HaveBlue, and why nothing's been said for a few months.

From Feb -> July I've been working the worst job of my life. It's taken all the time, passion and drive to do anything but "survive" out of me and made me a miserable person. I did not want to work on Nekoware, due to my personal state of mind. People can attest I've been more terse and disinterested than usual. I am relieved this nightmare is coming to an end.

It's still being worked on a LITTLE. not by me, but by others who have been reporting bugs and such.

I'm still driving a half put together car at the moment. I got a rusted rocker panel, a rusted trunk, a missing grille and front bumper, and a gaggle of various electrical issues. I can drive, I can get from A->B, the only saving grace? A/C works. That's all. My other cars are taken apart in my backyard with tarps over them.

I've not even cooked at home much. That's how miserable I've been.

In any case, plan remains the same, the quarter version will be updated when it releases. This time however is different. No amount of trolls, critics, cocksuckers or whatever will stop me from getting this out. It'll be soon.

Thank you for listening to my lengthy explanation guys.
