Firefox is officially trash even for normies -

I long have sworn off Firefox ever since back in 2017 it was revealed that day supported a socialist anarchist organization with money. As someone whose family was adversely affected by far left violence, and someone who doesn't subscribe to that at all, I boycotted the browser. As I recall on nekochan my thread on this was polarizing with some agreeing and some disagreeing, some of them quite emphatically. Not going to name any names that's all old shit at this point.
Mozilla shut down it's advocacy division, which contained a lot of the more concerning/sinister elements, but it also has burned 30% of its staff.

It also has disabled do not track:

And in general the move to Rust has been shit. It tied it to the LLVM compiler which underwent similar non free controversies (moved to Apache V2 licensing which I'm ambivalent on), has become a bloated piece of crap in its own right and requires python which is a travesty.
Plus it just become a giant pile of shit compared to Chrome which is unfortunate because I don't like Chrome either. But unfortunately webkit has essentially become the new Internet explorer as web standards continue to get more convoluted and bullshit.
Really though what I am really arguing about at this point is that we are facing down a situation where Firefox has become controlled opposition and shitty opposition at that. It's almost kind of pathetic what it has become.
The only half decent alternative is the Goanna series of browsers. I'm not a fan of stravor the guy who was behind them although he did recently get rid of Tobin who was probably the worst person in his corner. If you wanted to talk about someone who was essentially a stereotype of neck beard attitude than Matthew Tobin was basically that.
In general I'm just really frustrated with how tech has become and I would love to see a situation where we get something like compromise between HTTP and Gemini. I know that Gemini already is essentially a gopher extension but hopefully the message is communicated that we could use something that is even more feature filled because I don't know how you would have a forum on a Gemini server
