Is 16:9 possible on an Octane? -

Hey there, everyone,
When I first got my Octane, I was using an older Dell 4:3 LCD monitor that supported SoG and worked well for the most part, but it was showing its age.
Yesterday, I remembered I had purchased a 1920 x 1080 ASUS monitor a while back that luckily included a VGA port!

For kicks, I hooked it up to my Octane and it's been working perfectly.
One question I have though, would it be possible to get a 16:9 resolution out of it? My Octane's graphics are ESSI.

You should read
http://www.sgidepot.co.uk/vfc.html
It has scripts you can use to generate .sdb files (microcode for the graphics hardware) for any resolution. It's sometimes necessary to tweak the formats.
There are also scripts and some precompiled microcode at

Thanks for this, robespierre!

I was able to get the one I needed from the GitHub link you provided, and this site was super helpful for telling me where the .sbd files go:
https://wiki.preterhuman.net/Video_Format_Object_(VFO)_Files
For those files, I was able to place them on "/usr/gfx/ucode/ODSY/vof/ (for VPRO) or /usr/gfx/ucode/MGRAS/vof/2RSS"

Glad it was helpful.
I think there were 1080p formats shipped with Flame for the Octane, also. But apart from minor tweaking, they won't be better or worse than what you found.
