Silicon Image/Wiki Service - Raion - 01-15-2023

Currently our wiki/image host is down for maintenance. I will have everything back up by this evening.

Should be back now for good.

Here is a post-mortem as to what happened:

It appears one of the times the server went down caused some serious file system corruption. Thankfully no data was lost but because of how ZFS works I had to copy off the data set minus the corrupted data and then delete the data set and copy it back.

Everything has been resolved thus far. I apologize for the extended length of downtime.

In other news I am migrating us back to Mediawiki; this is primarily because we are being pulled kicking and screaming way earlier than I was intending to PHP 8.1. Because of this our wiki software is unfortunately not compatible. It won't be for a very long time because of their schedule and because I'm not willing to move off of a non-lts release schedule so I have started migrating everything back to Mediawiki. This will also give me a chance to start revising information that I was never really satisfied with and hopefully we will come away with a better set of info and documentation.

One of the things I also have long intended to do is to upgrade the preterhuman wiki which is not something that I'm directly associated with but I'm friendly with netfreak. The information there will not be a direct copy of our wiki however so I will create some original articles with citations to our wiki among other places.

It is my hope however that through revising all of our data and improving accessibility that I can start getting people to contribute to the wiki again. As it stands we are the only ones really updating or actively maintaining information in the community besides a couple of notable exceptions that only deal with specific software.
