Catia V4 - Irinikus - 04-18-2022

A really big thanks goes to @gijoe77 for helping me get Catia V4 up and running on my little O2!!!  Cool

Like with Pro Engineer, this will take some time to get my head around, as I'm more used to working with polygons than parametric software such as this!

All I've managed to accomplish so far, is to load this demo model of a jet engine turbine blade:

Looks very interesting, so this software is from dassault must be complex to use.

RE: Catia V4 - vishnu - 04-19-2022

They used Catia to model the Regan class aircraft carrier from stem to stern, the first time a US Navy warship has been entirely modeled in 3D prior to beginning shipbuilding. I've got Catia 5.16 for IRIX but no working license. ☹️

RE: Catia V4 - Shiunbird - 04-19-2022

There's a good story about how the Airbus A380 being late to market because of different Catia versions being used, causing the wiring to be too short when it was time to build it.

Fascinating.

The same thing (only different) happened between Vought and Boeing, when Boeing's instruction for bolting the composite air-tight interior to the Dreamliner turned out to be inadequate, and 10's of thousands of bolts had to be redone. At the time, the Carlyle Group owned Vought, and they were so annoyed by the debacle that they sold Vought to Boeing for a song, just to get rid of it. The Vought executive who inked the deal with Boeing was paid a million dollar bonus by Carlyle.

Here's my first ever attempt at Catia V4:

I followed the following tut on YouTube to do this: (it's not in English, so I had to use my imagination!!!)

There seem to be many tut's covering V5, but not many covering V4 at all!

Here's some more of my experimentation: (Drawing a sketch and revolving it to create a solid)
