O2 second HDD drive problem - overlogic2011 - 01-29-2022

Hi guys,

I had bought one Seagate 18gb cheetah st318451lc for my O2, for space expansion, since my main drive have only 4gb. Plugged on available slot, it make some noise (1500RPM) , run hinv on console and the machine find it(scsi 0 , driver 2). Started the system and it says : can't spin the drive - i/o error. On Iris desktop it has a icon for initialization the drive. Started it and come with the "error 256 ppclose on fx". Don't know guys what is going on... Don't know where to start...Thanks for any help.s

Hi overlogic


You may try to:

* use another known-to-work machine for testing the same 18GB SCSI drive
* use another known-to-work SCSI disk drive in the second drive bay of your O2 to test the SCA connector works
* as a last resort go look for the manual for your drive (serial numbers, model numbers to be found on the label on the disk) and check for possible debugging/testing options like setting jumpers, running test suites using vendor supplied programs, ...
