I ordered in a RevoDrive 3 x2 for my Alienware PC and it arrived damaged, with multiple surface-mount components missing on the back side of the card!
Here are some pics of the damage: (I must be cursed!!!)
This card was supposed to be "NEW IN BOX!!!!"

Unfortunately most ebay sellers have no understanding of the fragile nature of electronic circuit boards and the need for ESD protection and cushioning. I've received cards wrapped in ordinary plastic bags many times. By then it's too late to prevent damage from static discharge, but the problem is so bad I acquired an air jet ionizer so that I can at least remove the cards from their package without causing additional static damage.
Companies that specialize in electronic surplus can be considerably better at handling delicate parts, but without prior dealings with them it's very hard to tell good from bad sellers.

This card was properly packaged (In a Revodrive box inside an antistatic bag!), but must have suffered this damage when they pulled it from a machine. (Must have made contact with the adjacent card when they pulled it!)
There's absolutely no way that they tested this card before shipping it! :(
They Advertised it as brand new in box, and this is not the case, as it's definitely used! (In box doesn't in any way mean new!!!!!)
NEW MEANS NEW!!!!

Yikes!!! If the values are known that's an easy fix with a decent iron, but in no way what was paid for. I hope you immediately filed for a refund.

I immediately filed for a refund, but haven't heard anything from the seller! (So after the 31st eBay will get involved if necessary!)
The problem is that the card doesn't power up at all, so there's possibly more damage.
For ethical reasons I won't attempt to fix it once I've been refunded for it.

I've had issues once when I ordered an IBM T221 a few years back.
The seller literally put the monitor in a box and shipped it, without any protection whatsoever.
The monitor arrived functional, but the thick iron support plates were bent and the plastics were shredded into tiny pieces. And then radio silence from the seller.
After 30 days, eBay arranged my refund and the seller suddenly contacted me. At the end of the day, he didn't want to pay for shipping back and the monitor is here for parts. I shipped the power supply for cheap to a gentleman in Canada who had an extra monitor without PSU.
My second trouble was when I ordered a set of CATIA media and documents for AIX - I knew I wouldn't have the license, I was mostly interested in the thick manuals. The seller also vanished and I got my money back no problems.

This happened to me but it was the complete display assembly for a laptop and the seller put it in a large yellow envelope with nothing else protecting it.
