Achievement unlocked - peace at home - Shiunbird - 12-22-2021

After seeing servers proliferating at every single corner of our home, my girlfriend rebelled and I used the opportunity to secure funding for a rack.

Now, seriously, you put in your specifications that "the rack fits equipment up to 500mm deep", and then when you get the rack, the bloody thing IS 500mm deep, so my NAS doesn't fit. But my other S1200BTS boxes fit, so I can live with it..

Everything is Xeons 1260Ls bought used and with turboboost off to keep heat low, so the setup is super quiet and enough to serve myself, my friends, e-mail, and 2 eshops with non-negligible levels of access.

Very nice! That’s a clean setup and a much easier way to handle having multiple machines instead of in different places all over the house/apartment.

Nice rack!



Peace at home is very important. You don't want to end in a situation where your lady says it's her or the computers. On the other hand, a smart girl will recognize that most men need sort of hobby. If it wasn't for my computers I might start to tear cars apart. That would take more space, cost more money, and I'd have my hands dirty with engine oil all the time ...

My mom used to go nuts over my dad's two-stroke engine motorcycles collection. =)))))))))))))
My brother and I had too much fun with them as teenagers.
