New DS1742W-120+ -
megaimg - 12-15-2021
I just discover my Fuel Dallas IC is bad....Tested it on my TL866II and it Fail. I order one from Hong Kong but afraid is going to be a clone or is not going to work...I know people are working on replacement or attach board....I try to read the EEPROM, anyone have a DUMP in bin file so I can compare. I think the info inside is bad to...
Behaviors right now: Time keep changing, and sometimes during reboot stop and need to type boot to continue!

Which time?!? Seriously, most people that claim the the Dallas is bad are wrong, we see this too often. Blaming the hard to find chip versus the very easy to get other battery.
L1 time is controlled by that chip.
Snaphat battery is in on the RTC that is in control of NVRAM parameters and date time on Irix (at least). If your date and time shown under Irix is changing, you first need a new $13 Snaphat battery. Not a hard to find Dallas RTC.
Check your booting console via serial. If it says invalid NVRAM. That’s Snaphat.
Please check, that as Snaphats are still in production.

Pull the Battery out and is dead...so that maybe the issue... and yes I was getting invalid NVRAM I just order a new one!
Will see!

You need a working Snaphat first if both are dead.

I highly doubt you have a dead DS1742W-120 as you would have seen “invalid serial” complaints on L1. You didn’t say you did, which means your system remembers it serial. That’s they key, forgetful serial. While another chip on the board permanently stores the actual serial number it must be correct inside the L1 RTC for the system to function. The system will not function if the L1 does not know its system serial. It will refuse booting.
Try it on L1, check your serial number if it knows it, you have a working DS1742W-120 battery and a dead Snaphat.
Though after you get a working Snaphat, you may want to do a env reset and suck to default the system.
