Software for HP-UX 10.20 -
callahan - 12-09-2021
I recently snagged a HP 9000/712-80 that I've gotten up and running with HP-UX 10.20 on a scsi2sd. Next step is to install NextSTEP. But for now, I would really like to find something, anything really, to do with HP-UX.
However, I'm having a great deal of trouble finding any sort of software. I've downloaded a few software CDs from archive.org, but they require codewords I don't have.
Can anyone suggest (or provide) a source for something like web browsers, compilers, demos, anything really.
Also, for what it's worth, I also now have dd images of the default 10.20 install, so if anyone wants one let me know. If you have a scsi2sd it should enable getting a similar 9000/712 up and running with a simple dd command to the SD card.

Larbob apparently has developed a GCC version for HP-UX 10
I'm afraid my knowledge here isn't much but that's freaking annoying regarding codewords.

You need version 11 for that packaging to work

If you look around, there are versions of the applications CDs available that don't required codewords. You probably also need the patch sets like 700QPK1020_10.20_700 and XSW700HW1020_10.20_700. HP-UX 10.20 isn't all that bad. Most annoying is that 10.20 doesn't have POSIX threats. If you have something more spicy than a 712 (128MB RAM won't get you all that far), you can get gcc-4.something to work. Not sure if you really want a web browser, but period correct would be Netscape 4.
