Indy won't boot - Err: why=2 what=0x9 - VisualCortexLab - 11-29-2021

Hey guys,
powering up my Indy and I get greeted with the following error message.
I must admit I haven't opened it yet, but I don't remember this error message so I'll start scouting for information in the meantime. Planning on checking the inside this week.

Kernel Panic why=2 what=0x9

Any idea?

Indy powers up , nice chime plays. All the Diags are passed.

Cheers!

Sounds like basic power and post is functioning. Good.

The diagnostic provides a basic checkup, but should not be used as a clean bill for the entire machine.

The kernel panic can point to bad memory, flaky connections or transient power problems.
Is the Panic reproducible at exactly the same point?
It could also be a broken installation, which requires reinstalling IRIX on the disk.

My suggestion is to first pop it open and inspect the hardware. Try reseating the memory and the CPU and check if the PSU doesn't get very warm. If you have two banks of memory (8 dimms) you can remove one bank and see if it still panics.

Opening the Indy is a bit of a hassle. The top cover slides forward but you should push the cover with right index and middlefinger while resting your right thumb on the black tab.
