Hello, I get a message upon rendering using mental ray " 2.1 '
upon trying to render an image? The basic Renderer works fine. Here is an image in the contents window.

no idea on the error message, but is there a reason you are using 3.9 instead of 4.0?

I just reinstalled it, but no not really. Should i install 4.0? if anyone has a good working verison ill take it
