Intergraph PowerStorm 4D60T running in an AlphaStation 255 300 - Irinikus - 05-18-2021

Here are some pics of this little beast: (It's an extremely rare card!)

Here it is slotted into my AlphaStation 255 300:

I literally searched all night for the correct driver to enable me to run the card in my machine!!! Here's the link to the site where the file can be downloaded:

https://it.pcdrivers.guru/hp-compaq-professional-xp1000-series/download-608711.html#download

Now that the driver is installed on my machine, this is how the card identifies itself:

It shows up correctly as a 4D60T, as it has a 32MB frame buffer and 16MB of texture memory slotted:

This afternoon I tested it, using Quake II running at max settings in GL-mode at 800x600 and it really surprised me, as it ran very smoothly (better performance than I expected!!!)

Here are some pics of Quake II running: (I ran it in a windowed mode, to allow it to run at its proper resolution!)

These are the settings I used:

One thing to note here, is how good looking this cards output is!!! (The photo's don't do it justice, but believe me it has an extremely good image quality!)

I'm actually quite happy with this!!!! Smile

Wow, this is really cool!

I didn't have any success with my Elsa Gloria-XL...

Will you make a video of the Quake II performance? Smile

I will make a video demonstrating this card sometime in the near future.

I have a Lynx4 geometry accelerator card inbound, that I really hope I'll be able to pair with it, offering even greater performance!

Just for info: The 4D60T was priced at: $11,995 when it was new!!!

Thanks for those detailed photos of the card.  That's an interesting cooling solution with the two little fans on the end blowing over the whole card.  It seems very logical to create front-to-back airflow.  Do they make a lot of noise?

RE: Intergraph PowerStorm 4D60T running in an AlphaStation 255 300 - Irinikus - 05-19-2021

The fans don’t make much noise.

They’re not spun at a super high RPM.

The shroud is shaped to form a convergent duct, thus accelerating the airflow as it moves along the length of the card. The duct diverges as the airflow exits the card, slowing it down again, reducing the noise created by the airflow.

Does anybody know if one of these boards:

https://www.ebay.de/itm/Intergraph-MSMT259-VGA-Graphikkarte-1998-neuwertig-/324439677868

does run in an Alpha machine, with the PBXGI driver of Irinikus' card?

I'm tempted to buy one...

RE: Intergraph PowerStorm 4D60T running in an AlphaStation 255 300 - Irinikus - 05-19-2021

It will run, as it’s the same card!

And it’s going for an extremely good price!!!

RE: Intergraph PowerStorm 4D60T running in an AlphaStation 255 300 - sgt_barnes - 05-19-2021

I bought one! I hope I can get it to work in my 164SX...

Thank you, Irinikus, for the quick answer!

That's what I love about us being in the same timezone, although we are thousands of kilometers apart!

That’s great to hear!

Is this card capable of handling two monitors at the same time (multi monitor support) ?
