mmap Error Installing PowerAnimator -
mmontano - 05-04-2021
I am having an issue installing PowerAnimator from swmgr. I get the error "ERROR: mmap of /Backup/poweranimator_9A.tardist failed: Not enough space" For context, this machine is an Indigo2 with an R4400 processor and 256 MB of memory and two hard disks. One of the hard disks is about 1GB in size and hosts the main system and is mounted at the root and I have a second hard disk at about 8GB mounted at /Backup. This tardist file is about 1.2 GB, so it won't fit onto my main Hard Drive or memory so I went and allocated a swap partition of 5GB on the 8GB drive, but I still get the same error. This is the first time I'm installing a commercially sized software package onto my Indigo2, so any help would be appreciated.

Poweranimator and other stuff is very particular about it's install directory. Upgrading your main disk should solve the issue.

Lemme clarify since I don't think I brushed it here: This is NOT a memory issue. Allocating more swap isn't gonna do anything. You have a disk space issue, it's not gonna install at /Backup.

This has nothing to do with PowerAnimator.

That's true, but you also can't go and solve it by trying to force install to another location.
