SoftImage 3D - kikems - 08-15-2018

I upload Softimage 3.9 or 4 full woking to ftp.
I have some installers of SoftImage XSI , but all incompleat, some of then not have license server installer, other not have a valid license..... Someone have a full working XSI version for share with us ?

Remember that preserve oldest software is more important, if someone have a copy of Softimage 1.x, 2.x please share and help irix.cc community to enjoy, explore and preserve before lost this great piece of computer history.

Re: SoftImage 3D - bkd - 08-15-2018

It will be very interesting to try pre-Microsoft SI3D so called 'Softimage Creative Environment' = 1.x and 2.x version.

Re: SoftImage 3D - kikems - 08-17-2018

I have Softimage XSI 2.0 and 3.01 but all of them loose SPM license setup and it's impossible to run. Someone have the full isos or the SPM setup installer for XSI ?

Re: SoftImage 3D - bjames - 08-18-2018

I would love to have an early version of SI3d on my Indy. I have a liking to older software that took very little space/memory but performed well on a seemly low spec machine. The simple days. Probably why I like my Indy so much.

I think XSI 1.5 was flexlm and we can work around that, not sure about any of the later ones

edit: XSI 1.5 runs like complete shit too

I know that XSI was a fucked version of Mircrosoft to ridiculice any platform different of WinNT, only old Softimage 4.0 or above works good on SGI. But today it's not important, we not want produce with XSI , I'm only want to try and explore as retro stuff history.
People say that XSI run over a fucked enviroment similar to WINE on SGI platform.

Yestarday I'm looking some videos in YT and say a making of Jurasic Park III of year 2003 and here you can view ILM continue working with SGI for the CG of dinosaurs and continue using old Softimage 4 or 3.9 not XSI.

Re: SoftImage 3D - duchamp - 08-18-2018

I have xsi 2 and 3 irix somewhere with working spm setup. It is not patched, however I tried using the patched Spm server for xsi 3 for windows, which also serves irix and linux licenses. It was very sensitive to time/date fudging. I.e. I got xsi 3 to run on windows by backdating an OS install in VBOX, however the irix spm client complained about the time/date from the lic server, probably based on file/dates in the irix setup. I never bothered to research much further (or install irix from scratch using adjusted time/date) . Xsi seems to require more than basic knowledge to patch.

Please send me xsi 2 and 3 install . I'll try and check I think I have a patch for sgi.
Please send me by google drive or dropbox.
