IRIX SPR ( IRIX software preservation resource ) -

Hello, i'm working to start a project for preserve all IRIX software, CD contents and related stuff as possible. I'm not trying to promote warez or piracy but I think all this apps are obsolete for obsolete hardware and out of business after more than 15-20 years, I'm say this is abandonware. I want make and share a repository for all SGI fan users to share and explore why SGI was fabulous machine in the 80's and 90's. Until now a big part of SGI collector only access to the hardware, but now I want that all can access to the software for enjoy , explore, share experiences, make new tutorials in forums, youtube etc... in some small words I want that all SGI fans can be use their SGI computer as retro hobby like other people do with other platforms.
I think preserve software is the unfinished task for most unix systems, now I'm only have time for SGI but I hope that other users start similar initiative like this for the other Unix systems.
If all SGI users contribute with this project, I think that we can enjoy a new era using and exploring our SGI systems.
Of course if we can preserve software with any unlocked tool for use as hobby will be better.
If it's not a problem with the agreements of this forum , in a few days I'll post here the repository link with the software I have checked.
From now if someone want help me to preserve , check apps , send me files or anything about this , you can send me a private msg from this forum.

As long as I don't get a DMCA, you can share it.
If I get a DMCA, I'll be forced to remove it as this site is hosted within the United States.

Offering a kind of input.
"if" the software is as a torrent , instead than hosted, the legal issues go down to 0. There are no legal issues to host .torrent links or magnets
If the torrent is "private", it's even better ( but this would require a private tracker ) since it would make it secure and not accessible outside the community

I agree with mazzinia. Bit torrent can easily be audited. Darknet things like Freenet and Tor make me twitchy because there is the potentiality of unknowlingly hosting CP. Unless I can easily audit the security, I don't use it. Freenet's explanation of how it works is rather cryptic. Alot of folks are the same way. I'm a salty ol' dog who has worked in too many secure environments, so old habits die hard. But it's a good habit.

Well, Tor is just a protocol to access normal internet sites with anonymity ... so technically there are no reasons to be twitchy about it. Moreover TorBrowser offers a clean package that allows to just surf without efforts and without impacting the standard network setup.
Different thing is instead freenode, since it requires to dedicate part of the hd to the net... and who knows what may get cached there. I've just tried it in a vm, I've to admit is not so slow and apparently can be turned on/off easily... still I felt the need to contain the test in a locked up virtual machine.

Forgot ( I'm on purpose making a 2nd post )...
we are not forced to use a real private tracker, there's a middle ground option : rutracker.ru
That site is hosted in russia, and out of reach in various ways... it already has some irix software torrents on it. Registering as new user and loading a bit more goodies would be an option.
Afaik you don't find those torrents unless you register and browse that site, so they evade the radar ( google / searches )

The torrent problem actually is no seed avaliable users for most of old SGI stuff, with freenet you always have one seed user ( freenet )
