How do I install dillo so that it works - mamed - 02-25-2021

Installed it from nekoware and it worked but the text was all distorted.

So I found sgug had a different version they optimised and ftp’d it’s over to the system. When I click on dillo I just get the error: cannot find file rule and the icon won’t show up.

So I replaced all of dillos files in the nekoware file system and same error icon doesn’t show up.

So I reinstalled the tar dist from nekoware and now the icon does nothing lol. I guess some of the extra configurations caused it not to work.

So what’s the deal all the dependencies are met is there something I need to configure or mess with? Why does the sgug dillo give me a file error

Hello mamed,

Unfortunately, the developers for the sgug projects do not generally hang out here so it's unlikely we will be able to provide you help with that version. If the text of Dillo is distorted it's probably a config issue with your X server (make sure you're running 24-bits mode) or you're using the very old Dillo and not the Beta Dillo3

The icon catalog doesn't generally work with self compiled software and you can't just double click applications from the file manager like Windows. You will probably need to start it by typing the full path to the application from a console.

Get the expectation of Windows or even GNU/Linux out of your head. This is UNIX, and 90s UNIX at that.

Im in 32bit mode so thats why nekos dillo wouldnt work. Thanks for suggesting the command line thing  after fixing the file tree if I go to sgugs dillo with command line it does work. now I just need to figure out how to fix the cert error that pops up a ton.
I didnt mean from the applications menu. Usually most programs from neko will once installed display an icon where they are installed that you can click and start it or you can use the cmd not the applications menu. you'd have to link it.

Most software that is compiled for irix does not use the icon menu I'm unfortunately regretting to inform you. You're going to have to get used to running commands from the command line. Irix does not support a 32-bit x server so I don't know what you're talking about. I think that you are getting terms confused around.

Colour modes are 32 24 16 and 16x16.
I prefer to just make executables that run the commands for me to save time and put icons on them.
